Why FixMeStick?

Computer viruses are painfully difficult to detect and remove once your PC gets infected. The infection compromises your PC in such a way that removal is only possible via an external device that is untouched by the infection.

People will increasingly have to contend with malware on their computing devices. More Internet commerce means more Internet thieves, and Internet thieves have an inherent advantage: they get the first move, which they have consistently used for 20 years to find new ways to compromise other people's computers.

The FixMeStick provides consumers a practical, cost-effective way to remove the inevitable infections from their devices, and for the first time leverages the only inherent advantage people have against Internet thieves: physical access to their own device so they can turn it off and clean it.

Montrealers Corey Velan and Marty Algire founded FixMeStick in 2011. A Queen's and Stanford graduate, Velan was previously Director of Development and Lead Architect at Radialpoint, provider of consumer PC security to very large ISPs.

Algire, who completed his Master's in Biosystems Engineering at McGill, was a founding employee of the pioneering Internet privacy company Zero-Knowledge and Vice-President of Products and Engineering at Radialpoint.
